Jay James Seeks Belonging in “Place For Me”

San Diego State University student and producer Jay James’ Soundcloud continues to flourish throughout 2016. Conceptual projects like  It’s Beautiful, liven up a short story and vivid instrumentals including “Situations” and “Friends”, spins popular songs by  Childish Gambino and Musiq Soulchild.

Jay has given Yo! That Slaps the honor of premiering his new profound instrumental   “Place For Me”. It samples Frank Ocean’s heavily emotive, desire-themed track “Self-Control” from Blonde. His single encourages listeners to confront and explore repressed thoughts, images and nostalgia.

However, James’ instrumental advocates for comfort and reassurance through Thomas Frye’s guitar riffs and solos. The original outro faintly echoes behind calming snaps and cranks. Meanwhile, light piano melodies allow listeners to briefly unwind from stressful moments.

“Place For Me” will give a sense of belonging and affirmation. Follow Jay on SoundCloud for more heartwarming instrumentals.
